JoAnn Lawson

Certified Pilates Teacher and Personal Trainer

JoAnn grew up in New Jersey, where she participated in gymnastics from an early age. She graduated from Clemson and promptly began a career at a Department of Energy facility in South Carolina. During that time, she became a fitness instructor and personal trainer on the side. JoAnn has taught almost every form of fitness. Her vast array of exercise knowledge includes step, hip-hop, spin, TRX, and barre. She has competed in running and cycling events, triathlons, and mud-runs. Despite sustaining multiple injuries and surgeries along the way, JoAnn has always found that movement dramatically improves functionality of the body and mind.

Upon learning about Pilates from her original fitness mentor she doubted its efficacy, but a bike wreck in 2017 led her to revisit this movement system. This time she approached Pilates with a different mindset. After beginning a regular practice, she was happy to discover new challenges and connections that led to immense growth. JoAnn couldn’t rely on her stronger “global” muscles to do the work, and she had to develop a new kind of stability. She became physically and mentally stronger, and her quality of life improved.

JoAnn loves to share the joy of movement with her clients, regardless of their current fitness level, injuries, or age, or injuries. She brings over 30 years of experience teaching movement, incorporating functional connections and wide array of tools to each session. Her goal is to help people find a love for movement while helping them learn to move safely and enhancing their everyday lives.
